I do not know about you but I am always trying to save money where ever I can. I think that one way to save money while you are home is by conserving electricity. One thing that is always helpful is to make sure you are always aware of which lights are on and which lights are off. You can save yourself some money on your electricity bill just by being aware of little things like that. Other ways to save money include:
Never do anything less then a full load of laundry at a time, and whenever possible only wash your clothes in cold water. This can save you between 2-4% of your energy bill! Also it helps you save time by planning ahead and completing full loads instead of half loads.
Change your air conditioner’s air filter at least once a month. By the end of the year this can save as much as 5% on your yearly electricity bill! Doing this also helps clean the dirt and dust and out of the air you breath making your home a more enjoyable place to be.
On hot days make sure you have your curtains down on all windows facing south and west. You will save between 2-4% on your energy bill. The curtains block the heat from your home taking less energy to cool it down.
Always keep the doors and vents shut in rooms that are not being used. You can save up to 3% on cooling costs. There is no use cooling down a room that nobody uses. This can add up quick depending on how large of a home you have.
I suggest if you are not already doing the things listed here that you start doing them today! Your pocket book will thank you!
