Yard Work Time!

Well it is that time of year again; time to attack the front yard. About 3 years ago I reshaped our front yard and now it needs some major fixing up. I can keep up with the maintenance of pulling the weeds and watering the plants the hard part is maintaining the rock and bark dust. A trip to the store will take care of that part so that will be my next step.

Our front yard is pretty hard to maintain and there are many reasons for this. First of all we have two huge fir trees and they create a lot of pine needles. When I say a lot of pine needles that is a huge understatement. Our pine needles get everywhere including in the rock garden and the all over the bark dust and it is not easy picking hundreds of pieces of pine needles up!

Another reason are front yard is hard to maintain is because we get odd amounts of sunlight and shade and so many of the flowers that we have planted have dies because the lack of sunlight.

With the first problem there is not much we can do but cut down the pine trees – which is not going to happen. For the second problem we just need to focus on buying plants that can grow in the sunlight or shade.

Good luck to all you yard owners! Happy gardening!
