One of the many reasons my family and I hardly use our backyard for guests and family time is because I feel like it is never fully prepared. The garden could be beautiful, the weather could be perfect, but when we have noteworthy equipment like gas grills, patio furniture, and great lighting, then my outdoor living room is more proficient for its guests!
Purchasing a good gas grill was the very first thing that my husband and I set out to do. We wanted a grill that wasn’t a gas hog, could multi-task, and that was pleasing to the eye. We went with a natural gas grill, which some would be very opposed to because of a few offsets. Natural gas is a cleaner burning fuel also sway many buyers into the natural gas grill arena. Unfortunately, natural gas must come from a line connected to your yard, so if you don’t already have a natural gas line, you would have to get one installed. In the long run, however , the cost of extending a gas line into your back yard will give you the later advantage due to the lower cost of fuel over time. Propane tanks have an advantage over natural gas grills due to their portability, but if a mobile grill isn’t of your highest interest, then I would definitely recommend natural gas. Even though a gas grill burns twice as much fuel, it ends up being about six times less than propane! Also, if you’re interested in an even more cleaner and eco-friendly grill, check out the corn burning grills. They use dried corn kernels, creating a 100% natural grill that do not pollute your food or the environment. Also, the cost of using corn energy is much less than other fuels.
Another piece of equipment that is great for entertaining is a petite and portable gas fire pit. They are only about 30 inches in diameter, which makes for easy mobility and use. We like to take it with us to the beach (where it’s permitted of course!). It’s a great piece of equipment to have at home that provides a warm and relaxing environment.
When we have guests over or we are simply just relaxing with a glass of iced tea in the back yard, we love to keep our taste buds happy, our skin warm, and of course, our minds at ease. Having a water fountain was probably my favorite investment in our yard, because it’s easily pleasing to look at, and the sound of running water in a soothing environment is really wonderful. We have a great solar-on-demand tiered fountain that is great for conservation. They require charging a battery (usually takes about one sunny day to fully charge), and choosing your preferred setting, either of solar use or battery use. If you choose solar use, the fountain usually begins working when there is enough presence of solar energy. However, the battery setting allows the fountain to work whenever you’d like, (like a cloudy day or at night), so you don’t have to rely on solar power for the fountain to function.
Creating an environment in your yard, in my opinion, is very important if you are looking for more family and/or guest opportunity. Having a relaxing and pleasing backyard is a great opportunity to make the most of your home!
I love these firepits. There are easy to move, can go almost anywhere, and are very useful for those of us who don’t have a huge backyard! They can easily accent a backyard and make it much more appealing than before.
