A “Pin” a Day Lets the Interest Stay!

Sometimes, we just need the inspiration. We need the encouragement, the motivation, the push to do a project. Give your mind a break—it doesn’t always need to be on its top-notch level of creativity. I came across StumbleUpon.com about six months ago, and my favorite “stumble” ended up being the arts & crafts search. I found many ideas for decor, frames, paintings, recipes, and gift ideas that I immediately fell in love with. I also found a site called, Etsy, which is a site for fellow craft and project creators to make, name, and sell their own products and services. It’s similar to StumbleUpon because you can find just about anything on there for inspiration. However, Etsy users tend to be a little more trendier and have similar tastes in style. (Whereas when you Stumble, you can come across literally anything on the web)

So, from my constant Stumbling and searching on Etsy, you can imagine my excitement when I heard about a social media-like site that is, essentially, those two sites combined. Pinterest is a site where you can post, pin, comment, like, and more—purely for the fun of creating “boards” or pages of your particular interests. For example, I have a “Photography” board, where I post things I find on Pinterest that are related to photography. I also have a “Yummy” board where I post recipes that I like. Get the picture?

picture-18 Pinterest is the ideal place to find ideas for your crafts, recipes, home decor, gifts, garden, car…it is nearly limitless! I love the site because I feel like I share so many interests with so many people that I know and don’t know. It’s truly a clever idea.

It all begins with someone posting their own idea on the internet (or on Pinterest), and then someone else will see it, like it, and hopefully “re-pin” it for their followers to see.

Oh yes, you “follow” people and you have “followers”, similar to Twitter.

Even better, you can drag and paste a “Pin It” bookmark on your browser’s bookmark bar that allows you to literally pin anything you see on the internet, whether it’s on Pinterest or not.

Since I am going to be moving into a new place come September, I’ve been consistently checking in with Pinterest throughout the day to find a few inspirations for some vases, frames, shelves, etc. I highly recommend checking out Pinterest and setting up an account! It’s a great way to explore and get a taste for what really grabs your attention. If you didn’t know exactly what kind of style you like, it will be fun for you to find out! :)
